OnTime Delivery was set up as a page delivery monitoring tool in Feb 95. It entered commercial service in May 95. The system was based on the Netscape browser, and as such, was limited by the features in Netscape. In particular, some features needed for page timing were removed by Netscape after version 3.1, preventing use of later browser versions.
By 1999, Netscape 3.1 was having considerable difficulty dealing with the lastest features on some client pages. This was causing frequent crashes, and impacting the reliability of the system. Internet Explorer, the only alternative, never had included the required timing features. Accordingly, we decided to suspend service on this system. Sorry about that.
